Sabancı University

About Sabancı University

The Sabancı Community took the decision to establish Sabancı University in 1994 under the leadership of the Sabancı Foundation, the largest family foundation in Turkey.

August Dec Dec 1995, with the vision of establishing a "world university" in Turkey, more than 50 scientists, researchers, students and business people from 22 countries working in different disciplines came together at the search conference held in Istanbul. At the conference, the philosophy of a world university to be established in Istanbul was created: "Creating and developing together".

The search conference was followed by the work of design committees supported by student trends research. Dec. During the design process, 13 design committees were created to work on programs and courses within the framework of interdisciplinary approaches. In addition to the design studies in the academic field, a University Administration Project was launched together with Deloitte & Touche consulting firm to create the business processes and management structure of the university.

At the end of Sabancı University's design studies, instead of choosing a single university as a model or imitating different examples and applications, a new and original university model was created.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Sabancı University was held on July 31, 1997. In October 1998, following the emergence of the general structure of the university, it was applied to become a member of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Our university is the first university from Turkey to apply to EFQM and be accepted as a member.

Sabancı University started teaching by welcoming its first students in October 1999. Our university is being taken as an example by many universities in Turkey and abroad today.

Dormitories;

Sabancı University, which has the highest bed capacity student dormitory in Turkey according to the total number of students, offers accommodation at home temperature to its students at Tuzla campus. All of the dormitory rooms with 6 different options, including single person, studio, disabled, 2, 3 and 4 persons, have shower, toilet, closet, telephone and internet connection for each student.

Students have the opportunity to study at their desks in their own rooms or in internet-connected study halls located in their buildings. The dormitory buildings and rooms are designed to provide comfort and convenience to Sabancı University students.

There is a private laundry room for each dormitory building. Students can take advantage of the fully automatic washing and drying units in these laundry rooms for free and take advantage of the possibility to iron their clothes in these rooms. The blocks where the studio rooms are located are separate. These blocks are shaped like apartments and there are 6 rooms in each apartment so that one room falls on each person. There is a toilet and bathroom in each room, and the living room and kitchen are shared. Laundry facilities are located on the ground floor of each building.
